Amounts are copied as each program prints them and are not adjusted. "Checked" is the day we opened the page. The SGIP tracker row uses the tracker's own date, 7 Nov 2026, and the Maryland row uses the date of its announcement. Programs change without notice and the official page controls.

How to read the amounts

The programs pay in different ways, so the numbers do not add up across rows. Maryland and Oregon pay a rebate on the purchase. Connecticut pays a smaller enrollment amount and then performance payments. Green Mountain Power and Xcel Energy pay mostly up front per kW of battery output you enroll. The Massachusetts programs and Puerto Rico pay for energy your battery delivers during grid events, so the total depends on how large the battery is and how many events it serves.

Most of these programs let the utility discharge your battery during peaks, which can reduce the charge left for an outage. Green Mountain Power and National Grid both state that they adjust or skip events ahead of forecast storms, and Xcel says storm mode overrides event commands. Read the terms of the program you join. Connecting a battery needs a licensed electrician and local permits, and the utility has its own interconnection steps.

A federal credit used to sit on top of these. It does not apply to batteries finished after 31 Dec 2025, as the federal credit status page explains. For list prices these programs are meant to offset, see home battery cost, and to check whether a given model appears on a program's equipment list, start from the battery comparison. As one example, Green Mountain Power lists both Powerwall 3 and Enphase IQ Battery, which are the two models in our side by side.

What this page does not cover

It is not a complete list of U.S. programs, and nothing here says what you would qualify for. Eligibility, income limits, equipment lists and funding step levels sit in each program's terms. Some third party pages still show older amounts: for example, EnergySage's cost page, updated 13 Jul 2026, still says Connecticut residents can get up to $16,000, which matches the per-project upfront cap that applied before 1 Apr 2026. Each row rests on one page, the program's own or its operator's, and we did not find a second independent source for the amounts, so treat every amount as a single-source figure until the program confirms it. This is not tax or financial advice. The full document list is on sources.
